Background
Industry: Retail
Company size:
- 2200 employees.
- 180+ fashion stores.
- 371,7M annual turnover (2025 data).
Our Client (name under NDA) is a leading clothing retailer in the Baltics. As any retailer it relies heavily on software to manage logistics, e-commerce, brick and mortar store operations and business planning.
One of the central pieces of software is a custom built ERP system (intranet) that acts as a central hub for connecting various vendor products and databases. Client needed an expertise to modernize their legacy ERP system and expand its functionality. Here when the Softeta stepped in.
Challenges
- A lack of modern architecture, outdated development practices, and security vulnerabilities were limiting system performance and putting business continuity at risk.
- Critical modules, including logistics and e-commerce, were prone to slowdowns and crashes, while the absence of automation pipelines and testing created significant operational bottlenecks.
Objectives
- Eliminate security threats ASAP.
- Improve observability by introducing structured logging.
- Streamline deployments with automated CI/CD pipelines.
- Build a scalable, maintainable architecture for Client’s future digital growth.
- Build new version of an ERP system starting from internal cross-docking logistics module.
Approach we took
The ERP system modernization focused on gradually moving from legacy technologies to a more flexible and future ready architecture.
• The existing system was built on .NET Framework with ASP.NET WebForms, a technology that has largely been replaced by more modern approaches.
• The industry shift toward Single Page Applications with dedicated backend services created an opportunity to modernize the platform.
• Softeta implemented an SPA architecture with backend services while retaining the existing SQL Server database.
• Dedicated backend services allow business logic to be reused across channels such as potential future mobile applications.
• The system was modernized through gradual refactoring to ensure uninterrupted business operations.
• Development focused on practical improvements and high value changes rather than unnecessary technology replacements.

Workflow
We started with these steps:
- A meeting and interview with the customer.
- An analysis of codebase and core functionality.
- Solution design.
- A prototype and a demo for the stakeholders.
- A sign-off from the customer and formal agreement.
Then proceed with implementation, which included:
- Fixing known vulnerabilities and potential security flaws
- Introducing a full CI/CD pipeline for deployment and release of new functionality.
- Adding a new module with new architecture and best practices using Domain Driven Design methodology.
Solution
Softeta implemented a tailored solution as part of the client’s enterprise resource planning system to streamline and automate key operational processes.
Our team of system architects and .NET engineers modernized Apranga’s ERP by:
- Enhanced system security by refactoring sensitive hardcoded credentials and implementing improved data protection measures.
- Improving and automating core ERP functionalities, heavily used by Apranga Group internal employees, with a modular Blazor + .NET Web API architecture;
- Establishing CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps
